Light of the World Lutheran Church is a Christian congregation in the community of Fairbanks, Alaska. We are a Confessional Lutheran Church, which means that we take God's Word, the Bible, seriously in all of our teaching, as well as in our living. You can learn more about what we believe and teach here.
We offer many opportunities for all ages and backgrounds to study God's wonderful plan of salvation which is found in his Word and to grow in faith.
The best way to truly find out what we're all about is to come and see! Join us for a worship service or check out one of our Bible studies or fellowship events.
How do I find the worship center? We're located along Geist Road, right next to the Holiday gas station. You can find directions to our church here.
Don't know much about the Bible? That's ok! You won't be put on the spot and this is a place to learn more about Jesus. We assure you, we won’t embarrass you in this or any other way. We want you to feel comfortable and at home with us. Church should be an enjoyable and uplifting experience. We promise to do all that we can so that you can learn about your Savior and God’s will for your life.
Don't know what to wear? People come wearing shirt and tie to shorts and sandals and everything in between. Wear what’s comfortable for you!
Don't know what to bring? Bring yourself, your family and whoever else you can get to come with you. We'll provide the rest...worship folders, Bibles, class materials, even goodies after the service!
Can my children come? Definitely! Worshiping and studying God's Word is a family event. If your child is loud during the service, that's ok. We have an area in our fellowship area where you can take your child so they can't be heard, but you can still hear what is going on.
Don't know what to expect in our worship service? Every church has its own style of worship. Our worship at Light of the World would be categorized as "liturgical." What that means is that we have a set order for our services that we use every week. While each service is unique as to its theme, readings, and sermon, there are certain elements of our worship that will be there every week. Our services focus on readings from the Bible. There we hear God speaking to us. In music and prayer, we respond to what God has said, praising Him and giving thanks to Him for His great love.
